We had one goal in mind back in 2003, to give local businesses the same marketing expertise enjoyed by national brands. To achieve this, The Barber Shop Marketing brought together a leadership team of the best, most experienced professionals who had worked on all aspects of marketing at national and even global levels. We then built our agency one process at a time to ensure repeatable success for every client.
Amy has 16 years of experience in advertising, marketing, and running her own show. It’s no surprise that she has worked for some impressive, big names in the biz. As an entrepreneur at heart, Amy is the perfect fit to take over our leadership at The Barber Shop Marketing from iconic founder Liz Barber. Her vision and direction for each client, combined with support for our team, make her irreplaceable. Amy makes sure the team lives by the core values we established, every day, and leads with purpose. Her ability to see talent in people and what motivates them is a strength that she implements daily to improve and move forward, in both her personal life and agency life.
While her two sons are her greatest creation, she enjoys drawing, tending to her garden, and cooking. As an avid reader and creator, Amy is a champion of producing art. She is currently working to make more time to create figurative sculpture with wood, stone, and clay. Our supreme leader isn’t into collecting things. She prefers memories.
Born and raised in Arlington, Texas, Jaclyn’s love affair with marketing began just after graduating from the University of North Texas and landing a job on the advertising side at Six Flags. Eager with inspiration, she joined our team in 2011. Jaclyn tackles the non-media side of our agency, which includes logistics, client calls, responding to RFPs, and traveling for onsite activation. She is diverting toward new, innovative formulas that create a brand experience client’s cannot find anywhere else.
When she’s not working she is spending time with her family at local Dallas sites such as the zoo or park. She enjoys the busy-ness and chaos her position brings. It keeps her sane. In fact, Jaclyn works so hard that you’ll find her getting in bed at 9pm. We think she deserves it.
As a graduate from Texas Tech, Clancey is absolutely thrilled to keep a print out of Leonardo DiCaprio wearing a Red Raiders hat at her desk. When she’s not admiring Leo, Clancey manages the creative side of our team to ensure the work is flowing smoothly. With experience on the print and broadcast side of business, she oversees what gets done and how it gets done. Her job involves layering different departments and tapping outside resources when necessary. She specializes in lassoing (gently) the creative team and directing their energies to their proper order.
Clancey enjoys interior design and all things DIY. Her sweet pup Oliver is her partner in crime and she often prefers to hang out with him than some (most) people. She believes her mom’s macaroni and cheese should be entered into contests. If you cannot understand what she’s saying, it’s usually just a language slip because she’s fluent in Wing Dings.
With a laugh that is known to incite riots, Gina focuses on media strategy with research, plan development, and implementation while constantly monitoring and optimizing. She dominates evaluating everything for our clients in order to determine which mediums are best to achieve business goals. She connects and builds an honest relationship with our clients and vendors, which results in added value for their business. Using strategic buys and transparency with POVs on previous media buys, Gina is able to consistently get much more than 10% added value. She has over 31 years of experience in the ad business, so it’s no surprise that she is consistently showered with awards. From five AWM (Alliance for Women in Media) awards and one nomination, to her service as the AWM Awards of Excellence Co-Chair 2013-17, we think it’s safe to say that she is on fire.
Gina is so famous for her family road trips that she should probably have an award for it by now. She lives for the nutty sideshow excursions and the World’s Largest Whatever. Seriously, if there is a World’s Largest on the road, the family is stopping. When she’s not planning family road trips, Gina is a hopeless volunteer and an avid advocate for the abolition of nuts.
Christie started in media at 16 by doing photography and reporting for a local newspaper. Needless to say, her young efforts grew into her graduating from the University of North Texas and securing positions at Univision and managing local sales at CBS TV. She eventually found her home with us recently because Amy knew she’d rock it at the development and management of new clients. And she does! Christie utilizes our team to collaborate and provide the ultimate client experience. She is very personable with our brand, so she is always out and about meeting with potential clients and keeping tabs on our current clients.
Christie is a big proponent of car karaoke to Brazilian music. She is fluent in Portuguese and loves a good couch cuddle with her husband, fur babies, and wine. She totally buys into the geeky museums and city bus tours while traveling. Someone has to!
With oodles of experience as a controller and a degree in Accounting from East Texas State University, Jeanne keeps everyone at our shop from panicking. Basically, she keeps our gears running smoothly. Jeanne is always a step ahead, meaning all contractors and vendors are not only paid in a timely matter, but faster than the industry average. What an typical controller does on a monthly basis, Jeanne accomplishes in a week. She’s a powerhouse.
While Jeanne is a big fan of Pinterest and Mexican food, she would do away with them if it meant the Christmas season lasted longer. Her daughter Kimmie says her house looks like regurgitated Christmas decor and so far we haven’t heard Jeanne deny it. Anyway, to pass the time until Christmas, Jeanne and her husband work on their yearly DIY project. She is currently taking suggestions for 2017.
With years of experience in sales and production of commercials, feature films, and television, our resident rockstar specializes in closing and bringing in new business. Whether the project is big or small, Bobby utilizes his knowledge and professionalism to make the client strategy reach world domination level. Bobby also works closely with Taylor on the creative side of production, and takes on whatever President Amy throws his way. He’s a juggler of work and meat lovers pizza.
In 2014, Bobby won the “Big Cheese” award for his fried macaroni and cheese and he has a weakness for death metal and Sugar-Free Redbull. If you’re in the office and hear random strums from an acoustic guitar, check Bobby’s office. When he’s not spending time with his family on their cattle ranch, he is constructing new ways to open a Which Wich inside his house.
As a graduate in English, Jordyn unknowingly gained experience by mastering Language with a capital L. Her job involves all things writing, such as creating scripts for the production side, copy for client’s websites, and newsletters. She is always busy researching for our client’s SEO, making sure she carefully measures what is and isn’t working for constant optimization. When she’s not working on SEO tactics or writing, she’s proofreading everything we do. Hey, we’re human.
Jordyn loves the transcendentalists, petting strangers dogs, and has a boot-buying problem. She prefers her perfume to smell like a campfire and will always be waiting on her owl to Hogwarts.
As our resident creative extraordinaire, David is a jack of all trades and a master of many. From everything such as logo design, illustration, and animation, David strives to maintain brand integrity and quality creative. He’s constantly coming up with brilliant ideas while continuing to handle a huge workload. We are consistently impressed by him and he pretends to not know how wonderful he is (we think he knows). Plus, he usually dictates the music in the office and he absolutely crushes the daily playlists every time. Really, he’s awesome.
It’s a good thing that David lives in Texas, because he is absolutely fascinated by the severe weather we always have. He enjoys tacos and firmly believes in always choosing pie over cake. When he’s not eating pie and watching the clouds form into funnels, he spends his free time doing carpentry projects.
With over 10 years in the media industry and education from the University of North Texas, Gaela’s prowess is proven by being on the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) board, working on the Students in Media Tour, and grabbing a co-chair position for the AWM Awards of Excellence Gala since 2015. At The Barber Shop, she takes pride in her market knowledge and her ability to approach each differently. Her strategies are centered on reaching the audience with the best media. She specializes in TV, Radio, Out of Home, print, and programmatic, and maintaining stellar relationships with vendors. Gaela moves at full speed in order to keep pace with where the industry is heading.
A fancy macaroni and cheese aficionado and an expert at untangling knots (whether it’s a literal or figurative, she solves every type of mess) Gaela enjoys cozy scarves and spray painting furniture. If she’s not reading cookbooks like novels then she’s probably on a rowing machine working off her latest recipe adventure
Taylor is the artistry behind the production. As a skilled videographer, photographer, editor, sound mixer, and animator, he has an innate understanding of the creative process. He is very present as a producer, taking the extra time to really listen to the client by getting to know their business and vision.
Taylor’s favorite color is pink and he enjoys munching on fried chicken, bison, and cobb salads. He is our resident tech nerd and his background in animation means he is always coming up with the best solutions for client design. He wore a batman costume everyday until he was nine and we think he secretly still wears the costume under his regular clothing.
